Downturn or Upturn? PDF Print E-mail

By Bill Tilney

An economic downturn holds the potential for a spiritual upturn!

Are you looking through the eyes of fear or faith? If you listen to the news 24 hours a day, you are no doubt living in fear. God’s Word provides over 2,300 verses on money and possessions that are more relevant than ever in today’s tough economy. The Word of God provides the solutions to a world desperately seeking truth and peace.

Faith distinguishes us as Christians. Faith isn’t about what we can do; it is about what God has done. “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1 NIV)

Mothers Are Leaders PDF Print E-mail

By Joyce Tilney

The dictionary definition of a leader is “a person who leads others along a way; a guide. One in charge or in command of others.” That sounds like a mother to me. Throughout the Bible we read stories of mothers. Sometimes their names are mentioned, other times they are not, but they all left their impact on history.

One example is Moses’ mother, who had the unique privilege of raising three leaders—Moses, Aaron and Miriam. Most Bible readers would be hard-pressed to remember her name, but Jochebed is specifically

that counts.

What to do When Things are Going Good PDF Print E-mail

By Rev. Bill Tilney

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (I Thes. 5:16, NKJ)

As I travel in ministry, the question I am asked most frequently is, “How do I know the will of God?” My answer is always the same: “Read the Word of God.” His will is revealed in His Word. They often press me again saying, “I know, but how do I know the will of God for my life?” My reply: “If you read the Word you’ll see it says to rejoice always, pray without ceasing and in everything
give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Who Owns Your Kid's Heart? PDF Print E-mail

By Ron Luce

“Johnny gets to do it, so why don’t I?” Is this familiar? This is a tell-tale sign that your kid’s friends may be influencing them more than you. Instead of just saying, “Because I’m not Johnny’s parent,” or “Just do what I say,” we must realize that there is a deeper issue. Is it really a “natural part of growing up” for our children’s hearts to be given over more to friends than their parents? I’m not so sure. Recognizing these tendencies doesn’t mean that we’re doomed to lose our children. Now is the time to know our authority as parents and play that vital role.
