Risk: The Pursuit of Success |
By David Jeremiah
(BP) How do you spell success? Much of the world, and many Christians, spell it M-O-N-E-Y, or F-A-M-E or P-O-W-E-R. Somehow, we have absorbed the idea from the world that if we don't have money, fame or power, we are not successful.
If you are participating in the world's rat race to accumulate money, fame or power as the gateway to success, may I encourage you to switch from the Forbes' lists to another list of successful people? In doing so, you will learn how God spells success:
F-A-I-T-H-F-U-L-N-E-S-S.

Dealing With Difficult Relatives |

By Max Lucado
Does Jesus have anything to say about dealing with difficult relatives? Is there an example of Jesus bringing peace to a painful family? Yes, there is. His own.
It may surprise you to know that Jesus had a difficult family. If your family doesn’t appreciate you, take heart, neither did Jesus’.

There was a popular TV show called What's My Line that ran in the '50s, '60s and '70s in which celebrities tried to guess the occupation, or line, of the guest by asking questions that could only be answered with a yes or no.

Would your employees, customers and peers label you a Christian in the marketplace? Or, do they see someone who professes to be a Christian, but leaves all that religion stuff behind when the calendar indicates a new workweek has begun?

The Recession is Over (Sort Of...) |
By Robert Johnston
In mid September, Washington announced that the recession was most likely over. Yet unemployment is still high, sales are still low and most consumers are still feeling a little nervous about spending. So how can it be over?
The definition of an economic recession is complicated, but is defined by key indicators above or below a specific rate, for a specific time period—usually about three months. That’s why economists can’t tell us the economy is experiencing a recession until we are already three or four months into it.

A wise man, by definition, is one who is informed, possesses wisdom and is discerning of what is true, right or lasting. Such is the title given to the men who traveled thousands of miles following a star, to find and worship the king of the Jews. Not much is known about these astrologers (traditionally called wise men.)
We don’t know for sure where they traveled from or how many there were. However, we do know they recognized Jesus as the Messiah prophesied in the manuscripts of old, and that Bethlehem was prophesied seven centuries earlier to be the Messiah's birthplace (Micah 5:2, NKJ).
