After a year of failed predictions in 2011, let’s leave out the predictions as we look ahead to 2012. This past year has been a diffi cult one— with economic failure, broken promises, downsizing, rising religious persecution and political unrest around the world.
Perhaps we need a reminder: it is in these diffi cult times that God’s grace and favor meets us where we are, so we keep our eyes and hearts focused upward as we enter a new year. We know that through these tumultuous times in our present world God has provided unprecedented opportunities to share the message of the Gospel.
As Christians we are people with good news! “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 ). Who can we trust? God can be trusted in all situations. Keep your eyes on Him as we go forward in 2012. |

Next list the adverse things you experienced during the year. “In the day of prosperity be joyful. In the day of adversity consider... ”

EL CAJON, Calif. (BP)- God loves to do astounding things. Most of the time, they are in response to the prayers of His people. Throughout my years as a pastor, a number of people have come to me for counsel on how to find the direction God has set forward for their life. I have to admit, my straightforwardness is not lacking in my response to them: "Have you prayed about it?"

It was small enough to overlook. Only two words. I know I’d read that passage a hundred times. But I’d never seen it.
But I won’t miss it again. It’s highlighted in yellow and underlined in red. You might want to do the same. Look in Mark, chapter 16.

Every night when the Walt Disney World theme parks close their gates and the crowds go home, the most important hours of the Disney day begin. Big lights go up, and massive crews of workers repair and clean every ride, every walkway, and every concession stand.

“What is man that You are mindful of him?” (Psalm 8:4). As a young shepherd boy on the hill sides of Judea, David had time to meditate on the greatness of God. Looking into the vast universe and the glory of God, he could only exclaim, “O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth…”
